I’ve had success working north shoreline for reds, but usually followed strong north winds. Using the redfish stair case method was key. Soaked dead shrimp and once we found them stacked up caught with variety of lures too.

From my understanding of the trestles it’s usually better to fish the west side during a falling tide and the east side of the bridges during an incoming tide. I’ve caught fish on both sides regardless of the tide so who knows? That’s why I try both sides. I generally see more boats lined up on the west side more routinely.

For me personally the wind doesn’t make a huge difference when doing the “ponchartrain pop.” It’ll make a slight difference in trying to keep an eye on your line to see if indeed there is a fish strike for me.

Last time I was out there Sunday the water looked pretty clean. Could be dirty on top but cleaner, clearer water at the bottom. Maybe that’s why he was throwing a lighter color. I tend to go with a green hornet or lemon head at the trestles unless it’s super clear and can go with a lighter color.

As for Chaz wacking a limit and you not…that’s what sets a pro apart from an aspiring angler. Try not to compare yourself. You’ll be a lot happier that way.

I swore I would never try the technique of the lake P troll. But after seeing the man Stanley Fink pounding it, decided to give it a try to expand my fishing repertoire. Fished Sunday- he and his first mate caught 20 and bonus flounders, me and my first mate caught 3. We were trolling the same areas and using the same set up. Still count it as a success, learned something new and caught a few doing it.

15 years into it myself. Nothing like exploring the vast marsh and feeling that fish tug. Definitely therapy after a week of working inside someone’s mouth.

Thanks for the report! Fished same area from 10:30-1:30. No bites by the rocks. Caught about 8 throw backs and 2 keeper trout , 1 flounder drifting the flats close to bienvenue.

🤣 Can’t wait to see the other edits. Have an awesome trip. I’ll be catching trout without you.

I’ve been wondering if king of the westbank has been at it.

    Looks like another successful trip!

Looking to eventually try lafitte again. Thanks for the report

With the winds blowing I stayed on the northeast side of lake lery. Gotta fish the conditions and not the spots right?!

Failed medical school so became a dentist. Now I work a few days a week and fish most weekends while my friends that are real “doctors” are working 50+ hrs a week. 🤣

Yep..your typical mouth mechanic. Get paid to drill and fill holes. My next career will be a full time angler slaying trout and reds

I was out there at four horse lake working the birds also. We caught 2 keepers with a cork. No dice with a jig or drop shotting, so we bailed. I figured they’d have to be in four horse in the deeper cuts and drains so checked a few other spots on the northeast and southeast of the lake. Not a bite. Ran to a few other spots closer to bakers and point fienne. Weather made it tough so switched to plan redfish and ran into lake lery where we found them stacked up. Caught our 3 man limit in a couple hours. I fished artificial while my buddies fished shrimp. Not much action back at the cleaning tables so I’m sure most people had a tough day.

Fished diving birds around bayou thomas roughly 2 weeks ago on a falling tide close to evening with the kiddo. Confirmed that they were mostly throw backs . She had fun so we stayed catching . I’ve had the same experience as daniel_gig. Birds have been producing small trout around lake p and borgne areas for myself. Maybe I’m finding the wrong flocks of birds
