Thanks for the report. It’s feast or famine sometimes out there in west and south lake p. Have definitely had those days not seeing or catching anything.

Having sonar technology will potentially eliminate wasting time fishing power lines without fish. That being said, there were numerous powerlines that I have fished that I did not use sonar and still ending up catching fish just because I got lazy graphing. You have to also look for other clues- baitfish? Clean water? Water movement??? I have caught black Drum, sheepshead, reds and trout all on artificial on those powerlines. South lines running east/west and the ones running north/south. Check wind conditions and water clarity.

Making sure you get good lure presentation is always key. I witnessed first hand yesterday a boat fishing a powerline or two before me, not fish it accordingly and not catch anything and move on, only to find out when I pull up and give every corner a try to get proper presentation and end up catching a few where he didn’t.

By no means the greatest box but not too shabby for being in your own backyard and spending only an hour or two fishing without having to run too far

Having had my boat there at a slip for a year definitely forced me to learn delicroix. Reds are there all the time if that’s your thing. It’s a good spot to be able to run to other areas including Reggio and hopedale. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave the boat there if you want to learn that area. Why not put the boat at the slip for a year and then move to another area the following year?

Williams boat launch would be your next best bet. Another option could be the spillway boat launch but haven’t ran from that direction before. I see lots of boats heading from west so I assume they are launching in that area.

Having had plenty of TOW in that area and having graphed it before I knew for a fact that once I noticed that difference that they were fish. Images were somewhat distorted but you can see a group of shadows of fish

Fishing under birds is where it’s at!

When you see birds diving, you know the fish are feeding. It’s exciting, fast-paced, and you’re right in the middle of the action.

I’ve had success working north shoreline for reds, but usually followed strong north winds. Using the redfish stair case method was key. Soaked dead shrimp and once we found them stacked up caught with variety of lures too.

From my understanding of the trestles it’s usually better to fish the west side during a falling tide and the east side of the bridges during an incoming tide. I’ve caught fish on both sides regardless of the tide so who knows? That’s why I try both sides. I generally see more boats lined up on the west side more routinely.

For me personally the wind doesn’t make a huge difference when doing the “ponchartrain pop.” It’ll make a slight difference in trying to keep an eye on your line to see if indeed there is a fish strike for me.

Last time I was out there Sunday the water looked pretty clean. Could be dirty on top but cleaner, clearer water at the bottom. Maybe that’s why he was throwing a lighter color. I tend to go with a green hornet or lemon head at the trestles unless it’s super clear and can go with a lighter color.

As for Chaz wacking a limit and you not…that’s what sets a pro apart from an aspiring angler. Try not to compare yourself. You’ll be a lot happier that way.

I swore I would never try the technique of the lake P troll. But after seeing the man Stanley Fink pounding it, decided to give it a try to expand my fishing repertoire. Fished Sunday- he and his first mate caught 20 and bonus flounders, me and my first mate caught 3. We were trolling the same areas and using the same set up. Still count it as a success, learned something new and caught a few doing it.
