Sorry it was a grind today. I had a similar day on Tuesday

Great report. I’m glad you got on ’em. Still sounds like they are not fully in the marsh yet

That sounds like a good day to me!

Not a bad haul! Its going to be on when that water temp gets right

I’m gonna take a crack at this. I also have my boat in a slip and understand the trailering and un-trailering BS that comes with it.
For one, there is going to be little to no wind the days prior so water levels should be close to baseline all things considered
The tidal range is around 0.5ft that day according to windfinder. You have the wind which will likely save the day blowing towards the west at 5-15mph.
In theory, based off the location of Hopedale, I would say the east wind will likely offset the mostly weak outgoing tide and likely augment the incoming tide.
During the blunted morning fall, going to need to find choke points and tributaries to get higher velocity water movement. I would think the usual shrimpy marsh spots would be good, but only in places that usually have good water flow anyway like Petes Lagoon, Muscle Bay, and even where multiple bayous meet like the mouth of Crooked bayou.
During the afternoon incoming tide, you can really fish the same spots, but choke points might see more tide than you want to fish and then larger flats and ponds with lower velocity water may be better. If you plan on staying close to the launch, place like Bayou St. Malo might be good. Since the tide and wind will be going the same direction, maybe you can drift across some of these flats with success.

No doubt its a fun way to spend the evening. I need to give night fishing a try. Thanks for the report

Thanks for sharing. Doesnt take much to get hooked (pun intended)

Seems to me like this is the case most places right now. Its sucks to say they are undersized or throwbacks when you could have made a fish fry with them just a short time ago, BUT…..
I think its a good thing. My last few trips were 10:1 throwbacks, but like you explained, it was a TON of them. Those 12-13″ specks (which to me have been making up the majority) will be >13″ before the fall is over.

I’ll be headed out there tomorrow. Will update on what I see.

Exactly. I’m not an expert and I know what I don’t know, so I cant see myself as that guy who talks it up in an educational fashion. Ultimately its just for fun and likely a rare thing, as I work a ton. I enjoy video editing and have done it with family videos for years now, mostly montage-like fashion. I take the kids fishing all the time and purposely didn’t take put them in this one, but I thought it could be something they can have over the years and get them more involved. I guess at the end of the day, there is no actual purpose or mission. Just because….
But I like the idea of quiet, low dialogue, raw fishing. A lot of people like that stuff. Its amazing how many people get on YT just to watch how other people live.

Definitely, i can see that. Must have missed it in post….lol
