What are your thoughts on the NE BM area around Bayou Marron, Bay Boudreaux, Bobs Lakes, etc? Same overall idea of keep in the shallow lakes and reefs until the water temp gets below 55 for a few days in a row?

I posted a report of 12/2. It was also a grind. The pressure at the trestles is crazy.

Well I was most certainly fishing next to you. Around 11pm – 2pm I fished the south trestles and then went to the south hwy 11 bridge between there and the twinspan. Virtually casting into open water and then slowly straight retrieve back to the boat and we smashed them. The tide was incoming-ish while we where there. It was a bit windy also, but that spot was on fire for sure.

Thanks for that awesome report. I’m heading out there in the morning and had plans to do something similar. I have been looking at the water temps and its plummeting pretty quick. Its gonna >10deg difference in one week! So much for that 2-3 weeks of water temps consistently in the 60s!
I get off in the AM and wont make it to the slip until around 9. I was thinking about doing some grass flats, but I’m now having second thoughts considering the water temps. I’m probably gonna work the bridges where the tide is just right. My daughter and I had a nice week of night fishing the lights in Lake P over the week and a good afternoon bite on Weds at the south bridges. Hopefully I can post an awesome report.

I agree. In my mind both are needed. Spot lock is awesome. Especially spot lock jog where you can hit a button and move 5ft in any direction. BUT…. sonar is a true must, where as the spot lock is more a luxury.
Marking coordinates/waypoints, seeing depths, and just have a sense of direction while out on the water is super important and safe. Also, when you download your tracks and look at the patterns that start showing up, it helps tremendously in seeing the big picture. I would go with sonar and yes….sidescan.

That is a great report! Much appreciated.

Bought a 2017 Sportsman Masters 207 with a 150 Yama with 130hr last August right in your price range. My F150 pulls it with no problem, but is mostly stays in a slip. I think a 21ft is more than enough and in my family…super perfect for taking kids. I had a 19ft bay boat before it and for some reason this feels much more than just 2ft longer. I think the beam length is important also as there is a big difference between 7-8ft.
I totally agree about storage. I plan for everything and put a lot of stuff in the compartments. I go across Lake P and Lake B often and never take too hard of a beating when those swells pop up.
If buying from another person, I would ask for receipts or some type of proof that its been serviced yearly

Well, I’m sure she will still love you no matter what, but if she is like mine…..she might tease me for a few weeks about a skunked day. With your pride and time on water in mind… I’ll take a crack at it. I’m no expert and learning a bit myself.
Wind and cloud cover will be non-existent BUT it shouldn’t be to hot.
Good tidal range, Pearl is not that high
High Tide ~10am, Low tide at night, gonna bet the water temps in the mid 70s
I think its a good plan. Its a perfect day in my opinion. While in that area, would also trek through counterfeit pass. I’ve always had better luck with it on a falling tide though. Lake B is likely going to be manageable so can pop out to those small wells and bigger rig right out of the L&N. Can even play with a few live shrimp around the northern L&N bridge pilings for sheepshead.
Not a bad idea to run through a couple bayous and ditches on the ICW side, and if around when the tide is falling solid, then would check out Bayou Thomas, Unknown pass bridge.
Since its a Saturday, I would add a few more spots to your plan due to all the extra weekend traffic.

All of those spots will be on fire in the next few weeks! Nice report. Sometimes you have to grind.

Hey that’s a great little boat. And the restoration is looking well. Glad to have you here.

I absolutely love the Biloxi marsh. I could go on and on about how cool I think this resource is to all of us. The ability to fish in an unpressured area almost year round. There are some days that I go scouting 80+ miles (from my lake house in Slidell)…..shit…..100+ miles is not totally uncommon.
Grande Bayou or Bayou Grande (whatever you prefer) is a nice run. Its a very discreet place to run in, has tons of real sharp turns (great for working point from point) and even gets quite narrow at some spots. Lots of connections to get into Bayou Biloxi or run into Brick Lagoon also. Learning that marsh in particular is worth the investment. Hope you do well!

The area between 2 and 1 are mostly all easy to ride through. I use Navionics, but not to make routes. I think if there is no set depth for reference, then it assumes it is shallow. As for the western entry point, I haven’t used that route, but Bayou Grande just a bit north is totally wide open

Yea man, if you are using your phone, then I would totally invest in a GPS/Sonar/Sidescan. My recommendation would to not get anything less than a 9″ screen. Too hard to see when you have multiple things up (chart, sidescan, sonar) if the screen is too small.
