My favorite lure I like to use is a jig. If I can get to the bottom with the jig, that’s what I’m using. 1/2 ounce is the heaviest one in my tackle box. If the current or depth is too much for that then I will try a HDS. I also believe you can use a drop shot when fish are finicky or slow as well.

FWIW we went through last Wednesday right around 5 am and pretty much breezed right through. Hardly even stopped. The only thing is on the way back. You have to be passed the plant by 2pm. Other than that you might as well fish till 5pm and let the traffic die down. We were passed the plant right before 2 and by the time we got to Belle Chasse the speed racers caught up to us.. so we just made it..
