This is very helpful! I’ve been planning a trip exactly like yours for this coming Tuesday 3/11. I have (maybe had now, lol) plans to hit a few flats south of the wall and fish a few points and drift oyster reefs in Lake Athanasio. Nothing planned for Eloi.
Looking at today’s satellite imagery on NASA Worldview, that chocolate milk river water has made it to the very end of the long rocks, so that makes since why the water down there was dirtier.
Great report man, I really appreciate it! May switch some things up now based off of your report. I’ll definitely follow up and post a report after my trip Tuesday. Thank you!

Nice trip! Thank you for the report.
The spinning combo I like to use for popping corks, HDS rigs, and double rigs is a St Croix Triumph M power, fast action, with a Shimano Stradic. I love it! The combo is a bit pricy but very light and very tough.

I’m guessing sometime early morning 9th -10th time frame when water levels should be at its lowest. With winds predicted to start coming from the north Tuesday the 7th and temps dropping for the “Artic Blast”. I’m predicting that the freezing temps along with the strong north winds will bring the water levels below normal and cause the reds to run out of the marsh seeking deeper water. My area of prediction is Hopedale / Shell beach area.

You and I mentioned this the other day!! Figured it was going to be turning on soon. Now to execute a plan.
-
Yup! I feel like if the conditions are just right, places like Delacroix and the Laffite are going to turn on really soon also. With the river predicted to swell to ~12.3ft March 4th (which is early then last year), that river water should push the trout into those areas.

Yessir! Just got it back this past Friday, 2/21. I’m extremely anxious to get her back on the water and start contributing to the community again.
I felt your post deep inside because its been since October 2024 since I last fished! I was about to resort to something similar to what you did in your post, lol.
