Bunch of drop shots and ½ jigs ready to go. 🤞 the river isn’t too high. But if nothing else I’ll be able to say I fished Venice lol. I’ll report back.

Just had a recapture on a 14″ trout from this day… Again, proof that these fish survive capture and release to be caught again… And proof that this area has a ton of pressure. Recapture was about a mile closer to the wall… Every recapture feels like a win.

Yeah definitely. When you have so much identical shoreline, you gotta figure out spots that have something “different”. Breaks in the rocks can be great when everything else is right, like tide going in or out. Points. Ledges. Look at your depth finder. Side scan if you have it. Places with snags are usually where the fish are.
The deeper we get into winter, I look for any sign of life. Could be an egret on the rocks. Pelicans. Any sign of life.
Trout fishing is a lot about angles

Thanks @neilnmel . I didn’t go to Venice today, choose the safe bet and fished the mrgo. Caught out limit. But I still wanna fish Venice. Hoping between now and new years the river stays long enough to get down there. I need to sit down and put a good game plan together. Last night was too last minute

Thank you. Yeah i try to keep my head on swivel over there. Especially when im using spot lock. Ive had it turn off on me while im measuring a fish or whatever, and started drifting towards the rocks. Definitely need to be careful with that, and getting closer than say 50′ from the rocks. The rougher/ higher the wind is, the move space i leave for that reason. Ive been in 6′ of water and all of a sudden spotted a piece of metal just below the surface. Or giant rocks too.
