Looks good. Seems like your enjoying your new home base of Delacroix…

Obviously, tomorrow has come and gone. How’d you make out? Lake borgne has been hit or miss a lot lately. There are fish around in deeper areas. But this time of year expect small trout

Thanks for reporting. I fished down there on the 2nd the wind was howling. Looks like you made out well

Show me the content in question. You talking about the lady that puts hats on fish?

Wait… gear lube is not supposed to be black…. at least mine isn’t, mine is a clear /yellowish color. Used it will be milky… slightly
You’re saying yours is normally black?
We are talking lower unit lube right ?
What brand is the lube?

MemberSeptember 3, 2024 at 11:29 am in reply to: LOWRANCE USR TRAIL VERSION 6 NOT SUPPORTED?Okay so I finally was able to copy all my waypoints and tracks onto a SD card. The go9 asks what format you want when exporting it. Seeing the data on GED made me realize I had multiple copies of the same waypoints. So I deleted all my waypoints and tracks on 1 of 2 gps units. Then when I went install them back, the Simrad won’t read my standard mapping LA EAST… this Sunday night before a planned tripped on Monday… FML
I went through this once before. It is part of the reason I have 2 freaking Simrad Go9s already. Back in 2021 it did the same thing, after working flawlessly for 11 months, then quit loading the standard maps card.
On start up, it loads, asks me if I want to switch to the insight map (like normal) then it acts like it’s going to load, then loads a blank screen with no base map or anything really.
The way I got it “resolved” last time, was by paying bayou marine and electronics a small fortune to install the 2nd go9 and resolve the other issue.
I’m going to end up having to go drive over to standard mapping with my boat and see if they can fix it. Ugh can anything go right for me?

MemberSeptember 3, 2024 at 8:00 pm in reply to: LOWRANCE USR TRAIL VERSION 6 NOT SUPPORTED?Disregard, I am dumb. I fixed it by visiting standard maps website. They have a FAQ with trouble shooting steps.
Should’ve done that before coming here to rant and whine lol

I swear that old “bust out another thousand “ saying is becoming more and more true everyday lol.
This could’ve been so much worse. I put my boat on the trailer to test the brakes and then the next morning 1 tire was low. Luckily this didn’t happen right before a trip as I might’ve been tempted to just add air (since it was on the inside of the tire, I thought it was a nail) and go which could’ve been disastrous.
This was the last of the original tires on this trailer, otherwise I’d be replacing them all if they were the same age as this one.

So one thing i dont understand with the “river= land creation” theory is they say we have been sending the sediment down to the mouth of the river, but when you look at the mouth of the river on GED using the timeline feature you can see areas are being dredged down there also… So if the sediment is flowing down there, why isnt it creating land there? is it because of the velocity of the water flowing out river?
This is a spot around riverside bay where land has recently been created using dredging.

Ah okay that explains it lol. I’ve only used Yamalube, and I was thinking somehow your oil went from clear to black..

lol right , I agree with you on it being out of our control. and yeah, most people have other things to do with their time than concern themselves with the master plan, myself included, I don’t even know how I ended up going down that rabbit hole. I think someone on here posted a link about something else… then I realized that the work being done on both sides of HWY90 by lake Catherine was CPRA work, as well as a number of other restoration projects
Do you really think installing locks at chef and rigolets pass will ruin fishing? I believe these locks remain open unless there is storm surge coming…
Another thought: what good does it do to put locks at chef and rigolets, but not the pearl , less than 2 miles away… won’t all that water just move into that inlet? Also I believe my subdivision will be hurt by all the new levees and locks… we live by cross gates in Slidell, they excluded us from the new levee system so I’m sure the water will push up the pearl and flood everything over there… who knows

are you targeting reds with that 30lb line? Unless you’re particularly targeting big reds, or boat flipping medium ones, that is overkill. I’ve gone down to as small as 10lb test braid. In fact i have it on 2 reels that i use for light weight jigs. The only down side to it is that i cant use a lighter leader than mainline, so if it snags, it breaks at uni knot. Ive found 15-20lb braid works great, light enough to cast well on our medium rods, and strong enough to land pretty much anything inshore. I’ve landed bull reds with 10lb braid, that stuff is crazy strong, as long as you have your drag set right.
