Thank you for the great report! All of these reports of dead fish really takes the wind out of all of our sails man. I know exactly what you mean about seeing all that and it killing your spirits…it literally made me pack up and go home. It was an eerie and sick feeling.

Thanks! I picked it up for $109. Can’t wait to start practicing! This year I’m working on the 10%. I’m making sure I dedicate the right combos for each technique. 2025 is the year of fine tuning for me.

This is sad to hear but I don’t think it is far off. I hope they do something with the limits really soon. Meanwhile, I’ll mostly fish fresh water.

We can still harvest socolait while we let the marsh heal!

I really hate to see this but this is the reality we are facing. I really hope they do some limit changes and let the population recover.

I fish Lake Boeuf and Lake Fields mostly. The Gulf Canals off if Bayou Couba in Westwego used to be my favorite but this year salt water was pushed in and there have been no socolait so I’ve had to go to the other two.

These guys will drive you crazy on sonar! I thought that getting a forward facing sonar would save time fishing for them but it did the opposite. Now i wase more time on non biting fish because I know they are there 😂. I’ve seen 50+ fish on a brush pile dropped 10 different color baits on the fish’s head including a live minnow and they just ignore it. My favorite way to fish them is during spawn when they are up in the cut grass and you can’t see them on sonar at all and that’s when I really go after them. It reminds me of simpler times when I was a kid fishing every canal I could walk to for perch.
