Fished a bunch out of a kayak from Delacroix/Hopedale/Reggio. That’s a good plan what you have mentioned, the canals have heavy boat traffic but in deeper holes, if you are striking out on hitting the points, get some dead shrimp and soak them in those canals, you’ll load up on blue/channel cats and whatever reds/black drum are in the area. At least as a backup plan.

In a kayak, I would look hard at the Reggio side, specifically the pond to the east of the Delacroix fishing pier. You used to be able to access that through the boat yard there but not sure if they have blocked that off or not. Reds can be there but can be grassy at times. Boats can’t necessarily get in that area and have found them stacked up on the fall there.

I wouldn’t expect “clean” water in Delacroix but that won’t matter much. Would also look at fishing the graveyard points/islands (right across from Sweetwater) seem to always hold some there and easy access with a kayak.

Good luck and send some pics!

Sharks were stupid…at least 7-8ft bulls….had about a 30” red almost to the boat, he bit in half, was reeling in the head and came back and swallowed the rest in one bite…. Video is of the tarpon rolling…not sure of the individual “fish” but definitely saw 50 or so “tarpon rolls”

I’ll chime in, Cabbage Reef has been VERY good with some Donkeys in there the past several weeks, started to dwindle out the past week or so though…..

I have a brand new in the box Minn Kota 10 ft raptor. Bought two off of guide that was sponsored, installed 1 and wanted to wait to see if I needed the second. It works well enough with one so not going to install the second. Willing to let it go at a fair/under market price. Give me a call/text if interested 662.436.0101

After I posted this, not sure if this is what Capt Devin intended for some of these posts, happy to delete or if needs to be removed feel free, no worries.

Should have clarified, after we caught enough for the box. I did not measure every fish we caught to “click” it over. Definitely didn’t click over a 10/11” trout but I’m sure some 12” got clicked through the process. Mainly because as trying to figure some new spots out, also this was a 6am to 6pm endeavors as well, so looonnnng day to say the least…

Also, went back out yesterday afternoon 9/30 to some of the same spots with my kids and caught nothing but 10-11” trout….fluke on 9/29? I dunno….kids didnt care and caught as many as they wanted…
