Whenever my aluminum flatboat finally dies, I am replacing it with a Panga. Those hulls are just so good. I think it will deal with chop better but still get in the shallow stuff (and fit in the garage). It works for Chas Champagne, so there must be something to it.
If I could make a recommendation, I’d get down to Pointe a la Hache and Venice, especially when the river is low (like it is now).
Lots of good sight fishing out there. Since you’re coming from Hammond, the powerlines and rigs in west Lake Pontchartrain could be a good bet, too. Someone here posted a report for the powerlines.
Do you have sonar on that Panga? It sure makes finding redfish deep a lot easier.
