Fall Fish Location: How To Find Specks & Reds During Fall

There’s a lot of marsh on Louisiana’s coast but not all of it holds biting fish.

So where do you go to get on some great fall fishing?

In this course we demystify the location of hungry redfish and speckled trout, and we do this based upon the conditions experienced during the fall fishing pattern.

Anybody will agree that finding biting fish in the first place is the hardest part of any fishing trip.

This course condenses years of knowledge and experience in video lessons that make learning that knowledge easy and fun.

Hold up! Wasn’t this course free?

Yes, when it was originally published in 2020 it was. However, when Fall Fish Location was reproduced with updated material in 2023, it became part of the course catalog for LAFB Elite. The upgraded subject matter is more valuable than ever, especially when combined with all the other benefits of LAFB Elite.

    • That’s a great question.

I think what matters the most is finding biting fish in the first place rather than experimenting with lure color. Lure color works more like an accelerator, it can help you fine tune a bite once you find it, but you need to find it in the first place. If the trout are there, you will know. If they’re not, go to the next spot.

  • I have trying use everything I have learned here and have made a little improvement and gonna take the class over and over till I get it all right, but why am I only catching smaller trout wherever I go? I ended up with 5 keeper trout and thru back 35 plus under 13 inches . This happened in 4 different spots I tried.

    • Probably because you’re ending up in spots that have smaller trout. In the wake of the Freshening, and given the immense fishing pressure, throwback trout are going to be more common. Some areas have more throwbacks than other areas. For example, Lake Borgne and the surrounding area is going to have more throwbacks than a super productive place like Venice (when the river is low).

I don’t know where you’re fishing, but to go through 35 throwbacks to keep 5 in the first week of October is keeping in line with recent reports and what I’ve personally seen on the water.

  • Tried to fish the falling tide Saturday morning…falling hard from Unknown Pass into Lake Borgne…Still as could be at the Chef coming into Lake Borgne. Crazy.

  • Capt. Devin,
First of all, thanks very much for putting so much great instruction! I’ll go back later and introduce myself on the main page, but right now I’m trying to go through the fall fishing course and when I got to the “Locating Redfish” chapter it won’t let me go forward. I keep getting directed to the “enroll” section but I’m already enrolled and can see the course listed under “my courses” showing all the other chapters I’ve completed, so I’m not sure what to do. Sorry for the hassle…thanks again!
    -Alan
