This is exactly how I figured today would go had I launched the boat but GDFKNGAMMIT some knucklehead (probably on his stupid phone) rear ended me at a stop sign and today is the day scheduled to drop off the truck to get it fixed.

Boyce, great execution. That’s so good you got off the bridges and found them somewhere else. Given the latest imagery it makes sense there would be birds on the east side of the lake and you confirmed that for me.

For the record, I had plans to start first thing at Chef Pass since that’s where water would be moving first, then open water birds, then pass through the bridges, try some things that don’t stick out of the water, then maybe try the bridges if there’s space, more open water birds and finally more things that don’t stick out of the water.

I’m sure there’s already a bagillion boats at Hospital Pass, so that was my plan.

” I didn’t really see that many shrimp either. A few, but not the mother lode.”

It was the same thing in Delacroix after the front: the trout were eating anyway and they had shrimp in their bellies but no shrimp were jumping. It was wild.

“it’s very beneficial having a trolling motor that has way more thrust than your boat needs.”

    Hear! Hear!

“Luckily I keep a spare prop and prop nut on board so it was a 30 second fix and we were back fishing.”

    Again, excellent preparation and execution.

“The water temp at the boat ramp was 42 degrees!”

And so was the cold plunge. I was not on the water yesterday, alas, but in it, in solidarity with everyone launching their boat.

Great report, thanks for posting! I was at the aquarium with family all day and saw the flat water and just knew it would be a fantastic day on the water.
