    I have had that thought as well when the trolling motor kicks up mud or starts sucking air. Power poles work great for this kind of fishing. But having only one power pole puts you at the mercy of the tide and wind direction, so it takes a little thought on boat position. You could try a spud pole or a cajun anchor to see if that makes a difference as far as bite ratio. That would test the theory without a whole lot of investment.
