I’m turning into a cranky old man as I kept getting pissed by other boaters getting too close. We had 3-4 other boats pass by us on plane closer than 100 yards when there was plenty of room. We were only 30-40 yards from shore and they had thousands of yards of space. Maybe I’m wrong but if there is room I try to pass people with a few hundred yards of space. It’s not hard.

There’s a lot of boneheads with camps in Grand Isle. That’s probably who you keep running into.

On the way back in hit something that broke a few inches off my skeg. At one point I thought I heard something but it was subtle and didn’t feel anything in the wheel or otherwise. Only noticed it after trailering the boat. Didn’t notice any change in handling afterwards either

Ahhhh, now your boat is properly broken in for Louisiana’s inshore waters! lol

Sorry to hear that, but a dinged lower unit is pretty much inevitable. The missing skeg chunk is fine. I’ve ran a few outboards like that for years with no issues.

We were just happy catching fish and not looking to put fillets on the table thus the reason for staying and just having fun.

Glad to hear it. That’s what it’s all about. Just have fun. Man, I’d rathe grind through dinks than go through the Hell I did last week.

    Great report, thanks for posting!
